(Bandar Seri Begawan, 11th) His Majesty the Sultan's Government of Brunei has recently established the "National Committee for Responding to Middle East Impacts," and, following His Majesty’s instructions at the cabinet reshuffle and new cabinet ministers and deputy ministers’ swearing-in ceremony on June 4, 2026, has updated the committee's terms of reference.
With the expanded mandate, the committee is no longer limited to addressing the impacts of the Middle East conflict, but now serves as a national platform responsible for addressing any crises or external shocks that may affect the country's resilience and security.
Accordingly, the committee has been officially renamed as the "National Committee for Responding to the Impacts of the Middle East Conflict and Current Situation."
The list of committee members has also been updated, with the Coordinating Minister for National Security, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Defence; the Coordinating Minister for Economic Policy, Minister of Economy, Trade, and Industry; and the Coordinating Minister for Social Policy & Manpower, Minister of Home Affairs, jointly serving as chairpersons.
Other members comprise the relevant cabinet ministers to ensure the government adopts a comprehensive and coordinated approach in tackling potential challenges.
To date, His Majesty's Government has effectively responded to the relevant situations and will continue to closely monitor current developments, taking appropriate measures to ensure the continued safeguarding of national interests, economic stability, and the well-being of the people and residents of Brunei.
The latest updates regarding this national committee will be released from time to time via the website of the Prime Minister’s Office.
