(Bandar Seri Begawan, 11th) To enhance society’s awareness and capacity in preventing and combating human trafficking crimes, the Human Trafficking Investigation Team (USPM) of the Criminal Investigation Department (JSJ), Royal Brunei Police Force (PPDB), recently held a human trafficking crime roadshow seminar. The event provided frontline police officers, staff from several travel agencies, and other related personnel with methods to identify potential victims of human trafficking.

The seminar took place at the Criminal Investigation Department, with participants from travel agencies including JJ Tours Sdn. Bhd., Pan Bright Travel Service Sdn. Bhd., Anthony Travel Tours & Travels Sdn. Bhd., and Freme Travel Services Sdn. Bhd.

The event was hosted by Superintendent Justin, head of the Major Crimes Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department, and the main speaker was Sergeant 3894 Muhd. Khairulna.

The main purpose of this briefing was to educate and raise participants’ awareness of human trafficking crimes, especially how to identify potential victims and assist relevant agencies in taking timely action.

The PPDB pointed out that frontline staff of travel agencies should always remain vigilant in identifying customers or tourists who may be at risk of being deceived, exploited, or becoming victims of human trafficking in advance.

The authorities emphasized that travel agencies play a key role in combating human trafficking, and the industry must strengthen cooperation with the Royal Brunei Police Force to jointly prevent and curb such criminal activities.
