A Small Number of Vessels Still Passing Through the Strait of Hormuz

On the 11th, UK-based maritime analytics company Windward cited analysis from satellite imagery and other sources, stating that a small number of vessels were still passing through the Strait of Hormuz that day.

Windward’s multi-source intelligence analysis showed that at 2:10 a.m. Coordinated Universal Time on the 11th (10:10 a.m. Malaysia time), three vessels were navigating the deep-water channel in the Strait of Hormuz. These vessels had switched off their automatic identification systems; two were heading northwest and one was heading north.

Meanwhile, public automatic identification system data showed that between the 10th and 11th, a total of five vessels had completed transits through the Strait of Hormuz, including four coastal cargo ships under 80 meters in length leaving the Persian Gulf via the strait and one general cargo ship entering the Persian Gulf.

The Iranian Persian Gulf Strait Management Authority stated on the 11th that, given the tensions created by U.S. military activities in the Middle East, the Strait of Hormuz is temporarily closed. On the same day, the Iranian armed forces also said that violators of the passage restrictions would become targets for strikes.
