(Miri, 6th) Supported by the Kuek Foundation, the Miri Wenhua Lions Club and the Lambir Lions Club provided assistance to 50 flood-affected families in the Sibuti area.
A team recently donated refrigerators and washing machines to 10 families, and 40 families received furniture and bedding. International Lions Club District 308A2 Governor Datuk Lee Siew Ping attended to witness the ceremony.
This aid initiative was jointly launched by the Miri Wenhua Lions Club and Lambir Lions Club, aimed at helping those affected by the severe floods that occurred in January this year. Several days of continuous heavy rain caused serious flash floods, resulting in inundation in Miri, Sibuti, Niah Stonehill and other areas.
This effort is part of the ongoing collaboration between the Miri Wenhua Lions Club, Lambir Lions Club, and the Kuek Foundation to provide assistance to families in need.
From March 24th to 27th this year, a team from the Kuek Foundation personally visited the disaster-affected areas, going door-to-door to visit families in need, focusing assistance on Kampung Pujut Tanjong Batu, Kampung Bulau in Sibuti, and surrounding villages.
After a thorough assessment, the Kuek Foundation approved an assistance plan of RM 200,000 to help 149 families in Kampung Pujut Tanjong Batu and 50 families in the Sibuti area.
International Lions Club District 308A2 extends its gratitude to the Kuek Foundation, thanking them for their kindness and trust, and also expresses appreciation to all Lions Club members and community leaders for their selfless contributions, which made this meaningful service initiative possible.
