(Miri, 6th) "Xiangsheng is not only an art of making people laugh, but also a way of expression that carries the wisdom of Chinese culture and the spirit of the times."
Zhang Haiqiang, chairman of the Sultan Tengah Miri Pei Min Secondary School Parent-Teacher Association, said this in his speech at the opening ceremony of the "Xiangsheng Night 3.0" event organized by the school's Yi Sheng Club last night.
He said that xiangsheng, as a shining pearl in the culture of the Chinese nation, has long taken root among the people, inheriting humor and wisdom from generation to generation.
"One stage, two performers, three inches of tongue speaking of the vicissitudes of life. Xiangsheng not only brings laughter, but also reflects social realities and genuine human feelings through witty performances."

Zhang Haiqiang pointed out that xiangsheng is not merely an entertainment program, but more a portrayal of life, a subtle observation and deep reflection on society. It inspires thinking amidst laughter and conveys the warmth of culture in conversations and jokes.
He emphasized that the Yi Sheng Club's hosting of Xiangsheng Night not only allows students an opportunity to showcase their talents and refine their skills, but also provides a rare platform for learning and exchange.
"We hope that every performer, with solid fundamentals, ingenious ideas, and wonderful performances, will blend the essence of traditional arts with the spirit of the modern era, giving new life to ancient skills."
Zhang Haiqiang wished that this campus stage would become a place to ignite wisdom and joy, letting tradition and modernity collide and spark, bringing the audience a unique cultural feast.
