(Reported in Miri, 24th) Miri Mayor Adam Yii Siew Sang stated that the current term for Miri City Council members will expire on March 31, 2025. The government will decide whether to appoint new council members or renew the existing members.
He revealed this today during a press conference following the City Council's monthly meeting on the 9th floor of the Miri City Council building. He mentioned that he has been re-elected for three terms, and his mayoral term will also end on March 31, 2025. According to current regulations, council members can only serve a maximum of three consecutive terms (equivalent to 6 years), excluding the mayor's term.
Currently, the Miri City Council comprises 32 members, including the mayor and deputy mayor. Adam Yii stated that the council will await an official announcement from the government to reveal the new list of council members and related arrangements.
