(Kuching, 24th) Telok Melano in Sematan will be developed into a resort center, primarily for the rehabilitation of patients who receive treatment in Kuching.

Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari, stated that Kuching needs to be connected to an ideal location similar to a post-treatment rehabilitation resort, allowing patients to recover after receiving hospital treatment.

"We are developing Telok Melano in Sematan, which is approximately 40 minutes from Gleneagles Hospital in Batu Lintang, facing the South China Sea. This location will provide you with a refreshing environment to regain health and return to a normal state."

Abang Johari said this while officiating the groundbreaking ceremony of Gleneagles Hospital in Batu Lintang today.

Meanwhile, he added in a subsequent press conference that the development of Telok Melano will be led by the private sector, constructing both a resort and a golf course, which has been approved by the Sarawak government.

According to him, this reflects the private sector's confidence in investing to develop world-class resort facilities in the state.

"If foreigners come to Sarawak for treatment, they will have a place to recuperate after being discharged."

Additionally, he also revealed plans to build a four-lane road and an Automated Rapid Transit (ART) route in the Santubong Damai area.
