(Kuching, 24th) The Sarawak government continues to support the integration of Chinese and Western medicine, including the establishment of research centers for these medical practices.
Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, pointed out that the state has a rich plant foundation that can be used to produce new medicines.
“The procedures of Eastern and Western medicine can be integrated. Perhaps we are quite fortunate in Sarawak, as we still have abundant trees and plants. Unlike other countries that lack plant resources, which focus solely on Western research methods.”
Abang Johari said that, in fact, when he visited Samsung Biologics in Seoul, they were exploring the possibility of integrating Eastern and Western medicine, especially in cancer treatment.
He said this today in his speech at the groundbreaking ceremony for Gleneagles Hospital in Batu Lintang.
He further explained that integrated medical procedures have become one of the best solutions in the world to destroy cancer cells without interfering with healthy cells.
Additionally, he mentioned that Sarawak will develop its own cancer center, which will initially be funded by the Sarawak government and subsequently reimbursed by the federal government.
