Tudan Primary School Cultivates Sports Talents Lee Kim Shin: Striving for Good Results in Student League

(Miri, 24th) Sarawak Minister of Transport and Chairman of the Board of SJKC Chung Hua Tudan Chinese Primary School, Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin pointed out that Tudan Primary School has many outstanding athletes, therefore the school has established many sports facilities. The school has two halls, one of which can be used for indoor ball games, and plans to build a sports track for competition use. He hopes that the physical education teachers can put extra effort into nurturing students to foster more outstanding athletes.

He stated this while speaking at the handover of jerseys and flag presentation ceremony at the school today.

This year, SJKC Chung Hua Tudan Primary School sent out 42 students to participate in the Miri District Primary School Student League, including volleyball, table tennis, and cross-country races. Among them, the volleyball team consists of 12 boys and 12 girls, the table tennis event has 4 boys and 4 girls participating, while the cross-country race has 5 boys and 5 girls. Additionally, the school sent 10 leading teachers and coaches to guide the athletes in training and competition.

He mentioned that for this year’s student league, the school sent out 104 students to participate in various sports and ball games. The volleyball competition will be held from February 27 to March 1 at SJKC Chung Hua Tudan Primary School. Moreover, the table tennis competition will take place from February 28 to March 1 at SJCK Chung San Primary School, and the cross-country race will be held from February 27 to March 1 in Marudi.

As for the other two events—basketball and athletics, they will be held in June and July respectively. The school will send 12 male and female team members to participate in the basketball competition held at SJKC Chung Hua Krokop Primary School. The athletics event, which has the most participants, will have 48 male and female students competing in events held in the outdoor sports stadium in June and July.

He pointed out that the school achieved second place in the overall group score last year, therefore, he hopes that the students will strive for the championship this year and have the opportunity to represent Miri District in the Sarawak Student League.

He emphasized that many students who have graduated from the school have become Sarawak athletes and participated in national competitions. He hopes that students who represent the school in the student league can prepare early. He stated that besides excelling academically, students should also achieve better results in extracurricular activities, particularly in sports. Through sports competitions, students can not only cultivate team spirit but also enhance personal experience and abilities.

Headmaster Liu Shikun earlier stated that sports is not only a physical competition but also a test of will. The flag presentation ceremony symbolizes not only honor but also responsibility, hoping that all participating students can give their best, surpass themselves, and win glory for the school and their families. He urged the players and athletes to actively engage in training and challenge themselves with relentless effort, perseverance, and fearless spirit to achieve good results.

“It is worth mentioning that this year, SJKC Chung Hua Tudan Primary School has been entrusted to host the Miri District Primary School Student League volleyball competition, which will be held at the school’s covered court from this Thursday (February 27) to March 1. Parents are welcome to watch. The table tennis competition will be held this Friday and Saturday at SJKC Chung San School, while the cross-country race will take place on Saturday in Baram District.”

Headmaster  Liu Shikun especially thanked the physical education teachers and coaches for their hard work, also thanking the board of directors, the chief public trustee officer, and the Kapitan for their support, boosting the morale of school teams and encouraging students to give their all on the field to achieve better results.
