(Kuching, Jan 3) 50-year-old Awang Putrayusrie Awang Redzuan has assumed his duties as the new Director of the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) effective from January 2, 2025, succeeding Samuel Simon who previously held the position.
The symbolic handover of duties was witnessed by Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Corporate Affairs, Information and UKAS), Datuk Abdullah Saidol at the UKAS Headquarters at Baitulmakmur here, on Thursday.
Datuk Abdullah expressed his appreciation to Samuel for his dedication throughout one and a half years of service as the Director of UKAS.
Welcoming Awang Putrayusrie, the Deputy Minister also hoped that he would bring new approaches and leadership to further strengthen the role of UKAS.
Meanwhile in his brief speech, Awang Putrayusrie acknowledged that the role is a significant responsibility and promised to do his best in carrying out the duties entrusted to him.
Earlier in his farewell speech, Samuel conveyed his gratitude to the entire UKAS staff for their cooperation and support during his tenure.
He also expressed confidence in Awang Putrayusrie’s ability, given his extensive experience, to elevate UKAS to greater heights and further strengthen its role in public communications within the region.
