Malaysia and Cambodia have further strengthened bilateral relations by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on information and media development cooperation, providing more opportunities for closer cooperation in various fields such as media and communications.
Today, Minister of Communications Datuk Fahmi signed the MoU at The Light Hotel in Butterworth with Prak Taviyak Armida, Deputy Secretary of State of Cambodia's Ministry of Information, representing Cambodia's Minister of Information Neth Pheaktra.
This agreement establishes a cooperation platform between the two sides in areas such as news and information exchange, broadcasting and television, print and publishing, human capital development, film and documentary production, media cybersecurity, information policy and regulatory practices, as well as media and broadcasting innovation.
Through this cooperation, both parties are committed to promoting broader exchanges of knowledge, professional skills and best practices, while also supporting the continued development and transformation of their respective information and media industries.
This collaboration also reflects the commitment of Malaysia and Cambodia to seizing the opportunities brought by the increasingly digitalized and interconnected communication environment.
The signing marks another milestone in the long-standing friendship between the two countries and reiterates the shared commitment to deepening cooperation for the benefit of the peoples and media industries of both nations.
Armida is currently in Malaysia, representing Cambodia's Minister of Information to attend the celebration of National Journalists Day (HAWANA) 2026 held at the Butterworth Convention Centre.
