(Bintangor, 4th) The construction of the new wharf in Bintangor town is now close to completion, with the overall project progress reaching 95.49%.
Daro state assemblyman (ADUN Daro) Dr. Safiee Ahmad stated that this project is one of the important government initiatives to continuously enhance the safety, functionality, and sustainability of river infrastructure throughout Sarawak.

He said the new wharf is intended to replace the aging reinforced concrete structure, as the old wharf no longer meets modern safety standards or current usage requirements.
“Once the new floating platform is completed, it will offer a safer and more comfortable boarding environment for users, including passengers of longboats and speedboats,” he noted in an interview.
He added that the commissioning of the new facilities will not only enhance public safety but also support the logistics and transportation needs of Bintangor residents.

Dr. Safiee said the development of the wharf is expected to bring great benefits to the local community, making river transportation more convenient for residents, while further promoting social and economic activities.
“Upgrading river facilities is extremely important to ensure that the welfare of the people remains protected and that Sarawak's water transport services continue to operate efficiently,” he said.
Earlier, as the chairman of the Sarawak Rivers Board, Dr. Safiee also personally inspected the latest progress of the project to ensure that it can be completed according to plan.
