The Islamic Party (PAS) called for a gathering in front of the Kampung Baru Mosque in Kuala Lumpur after Friday prayers, attracting over a hundred attendees to protest against two DAP ministers for threatening the status of Islam.
The two DAP ministers being protested against are the Minister of Housing and Local Government, Nga Kor Ming, and the Minister of Youth and Sports, Hannah Yeoh. Nga Kor Ming drew dissatisfaction from PAS leaders after celebrating Christmas in his department earlier; Hannah Yeoh was criticized by PAS for her autobiography content being perceived as threatening to Islamic issues.
The protestors claim that these two ministers threaten the status of Islam, thus expressing their dissatisfaction with them.
Additionally, famous pro-Perikatan Nasional blogger Chegubard, also a member of the Bersatu party, delivered a speech standing on a 4WD outside the mosque. He led the attendees in chanting slogans through a loudspeaker.The organizers stated they have lodged over 300 police reports against the actions of Nga Kor Ming and Hannah Yeoh; 231 reports against Hannah Yeoh and 170 against Nga Kor Ming.
Today being Friday, the day Muslims go to mosques for prayers, many joined the protest after prayers.
Among the protestors, some held large signs stating "DAP threatens Malays and Muslims". There were also signs saying "DAP is a corrupt party", "Muslim youth rise up", and "Reject DAP".
