The police have confirmed that they are investigating from the angle of murder regarding the latest case reported on Thursday (2nd) about a cat being harmed on the university campus!
Kuala Lumpur Deputy Police Chief Datuk Azri said that since December 17 last year, the police have received a total of 5 cases of cats being harmed. In the first and second cases, it was confirmed that the cats were bitten to death by wild dogs. The third and fourth cases did not involve human cruelty but the cats died from internal injuries and excessive blood loss.
He mentioned on Friday (January 3rd) during a temporary press conference at the Kuala Lumpur Police Headquarters, accompanied by veterinary department officials, that in these 4 cases, 11 people have had their statements recorded, including lecturers, college students, auxiliary police, animal rights activists, and veterinarians.
As for the latest case, the police are investigating under Section 428 of the Penal Code (mischief by killing or maiming animals).
He pointed out that 3 people have had their statements recorded, namely the complainant, the complainant's friend, and the security guard of the institution concerned.
However, he refused to reveal whether the case involves criminal elements, stating only that the investigation is ongoing.

He explained that citing this case allows police intervention in the investigation.
“If the investigation were conducted under the Animal Welfare Act, it would primarily lean towards the veterinary department's investigation.”
