Three injured in MPV–lorry crash at Engkelili junction

SRI AMAN: Three people were injured in a collision involving a multipurpose vehicle (MPV) and a lorry at the Engkelili junction here this afternoon (Mar 14).

A State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) spokesperson said personnel from the Sri Aman station were deployed after receiving an emergency call at 1.34 pm.

Upon arrival, firefighters found three victims inside the MPV.

“A boy had been extricated earlier by members of the public and was receiving treatment from medical personnel at the scene.

“Two adult women, who were still trapped in the front seats of the vehicle, were later extricated by firefighters using rescue tools and a stretcher,” said Bomba in a statement.’

Both victims were given initial treatment before all injured victims were taken to hospital using an ambulance from the Health Ministry and the Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) vehicle.

The lorry driver, an adult male, suffered only minor injuries.

Firefighters also carried out road clearing works before concluding the operation at 2.47 pm.
