(Miri, 27th) In order to enhance students' environmental awareness, foster a sense of resource conservation and care for the environment, and implement the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Leo Club of Lian Lu Secondary School, together with the Chinese Lions Club of Miri, held an environmental planting activity themed "Reuse to Renew: Shallot Planting Project" on campus on July 25.

The event, under the theme "Reuse to Renew (Reuse and Regenerate, Give New Life)", allowed students to understand the importance of resource recycling and reuse through practical application. During the activity, Leo Club members demonstrated creativity and team spirit by cleaning, cutting, and transforming discarded Styrofoam boxes and used plastic detergent bottles into eco-friendly and practical planting pots.

In addition, the students personally planted shallots and chilies, and learned about plant cultivation and daily care. From upcycling waste materials to sowing and cultivation, every step let students experience that "garbage is not waste, but a resource in the wrong place," thus extending the concept of environmental protection from the classroom into practical life.

Lian Lu Secondary School Principal Jiang Peijuan stated that environmental education should be implemented through experiential learning, allowing students to build proper values in practice.

This activity not only put into practice the idea of "turning waste into treasure," but also improved students' environmental literacy, while fostering a sense of responsibility, creativity, teamwork, and community service.

She thanked the advisor teachers for planning and guiding the whole process, dedicating a great deal of effort from preparation to execution, and providing students with a meaningful experiential platform. She also expressed gratitude to the Chinese Lions Club of Miri for their long-term support in promoting character education and social service at the school, for providing resources and experience, arranging Lions to participate and guide, and completing the planting tasks together with students, thus demonstrating the spirit of serving society and caring for the community.
