(Miri, 10th) Sarawak Transport Minister and Senadin State Assemblyman Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin stated that the outstanding student rewards program he established has entered its third year. This year, the number of outstanding secondary school students in his constituency has significantly increased, and the total amount of rewards distributed has exceeded RM100,000, showing that the scheme has played a positive motivational role.

He pointed out that when the rewards program was first set up, it was only intended as a motivational measure. Unexpectedly, over time, more and more students achieved excellent results, proving that the scheme can indeed encourage students to work hard and strive for outstanding performance.

“A promise must be kept. Any SPM or STPM student who achieves excellent results and meets the established standards will continue to receive the reward.”

He emphasized that the reward is not only recognition of students’ efforts but also an important motivation to push them toward greater achievements, at the same time bringing honor to their parents and nurturing more high-quality talent for Sarawak and the nation.
Sarawak Transport Minister Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin delivers a speech at the ceremony, encouraging students to study hard and face the challenges of the technological era.

He pointed out that Sarawak is moving toward a digitally, technologically, and AI-oriented era. The future society is filled with all kinds of new challenges, and young people must possess solid knowledge and skills in order to excel in competition.

“Technological development is rapid today, artificial intelligence has gradually integrated into our lives, and mobile phones now function as mini computers. The world of the future is full of uncertainties. Only by continuously learning new knowledge and mastering new skills can we meet the challenges.”

He also encouraged students to seize the opportunity to learn, keep improving themselves, and pay attention to character, discipline, and comprehensive ability development outside of academics, so as to become talents who can contribute to society.

Lee Kim Shin made these remarks during his speech at the 2025 SPM and STPM Outstanding Student Award Ceremony held at the school hall of SMK Chung Hua Miri this morning.

In his speech, he also expressed gratitude to the school management, teachers, and parents, recognizing their efforts in nurturing students and congratulating all the outstanding students for their excellent performance.

He said that a total of 31 students were awarded, including 14 outstanding SPM students and 22 outstanding STPM students. The ceremony not only recognizes the efforts of the students but also serves as an important platform to motivate current students to strive further.

He hopes that students will emulate outstanding peers as role models, set lofty goals, and continue to bring honor to their families, schools, Sarawak, and even the nation in the future.
