(Miri, 6th) Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) Chairman Dato Joseph Salang emphasized that a party leader must have integrity and prioritize the interests of the party and its members in all situations, ensuring no member's welfare is overlooked when implementing various plans.

He stated that the Parti Rakyat Sarawak, as a member of the The Sarawak Parties Alliance, has always been committed to protecting the unity and development of the alliance, and resolves any issues through discussions among party leaders.

Joseph Salang made these comments during the launch ceremony of the party's Marudi branch.

He pointed out that all positions in the party's triennial membership election, including the chairman, are open for contest. He hopes candidates can make rational decisions in the election to bring more benefits to the members.

"The internal issues of the party should be resolved wisely, and any dissatisfaction should be raised and addressed, as party splits are often caused by trivial matters."

He also refuted claims that the party is in decline, acknowledging that some say the party lacks new talent, but these are merely speculations. The true strength of party members can only be assessed when challenges arise. The party has fostered an environment where members can freely speak, though they must be reasonable, honest, and not just for publicity purposes.

On the other hand, Deputy Minister of Basic Infrastructure and Port Development and the party's Vice Chairman Dato Majang Renggi emphasized that any party or organization must be united. Unity strengthens the party's stability and resilience, leading to greater achievements.

He stated that the party was founded in August 2004 and has joined other parties to form the GPS, bringing greater development to Sarawak.

It is reported that the party's Marudi branch was established in 2017 and currently has 1,208 members.
