On the eve of the NATO summit, Ukraine's capital Kyiv and its surrounding areas suffered at least three waves of large-scale airstrikes from Russia in the early hours of the 6th, resulting in 10 deaths and 46 injuries, with thousands flocking to subway stations for shelter.

Around 1:40 a.m., explosions occurred in Kyiv city, followed by two more rounds of airstrikes. The head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Tkachenkov, stated that multiple residential buildings, warehouses, and other facilities in places like the Podilskyi and Darnytskyi districts were damaged in the attacks. Towns such as Bucha, Vyshhorod, and Brovary in Kyiv Oblast were also hit by airstrikes, causing damage to multiple houses and civilian infrastructure.

Air raid alerts were issued across almost all of Ukraine, while neighboring Poland’s air force urgently scrambled fighter jets in response to the situation to protect its own airspace.

Previously, on the night of the 5th, Ukrainian President Zelensky warned that intelligence indicated Russia was preparing another large-scale attack on Ukraine, urging civilians to pay attention to air raid alerts.

It has been over four years since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, during which Russian forces have continuously launched missile and drone attacks on Ukrainian cities. This war has become the deadliest conflict in Europe since World War II.
