The fire at Hong Fuk Court in Tai Po, Hong Kong has so far resulted in over a hundred deaths. On the morning of the 29th, Chief Executive John Lee, together with major officials, non-official members of the Executive Council, civil servants, heads of disciplinary forces, and the leadership of the Hospital Authority, held a moment of silence at the government headquarters.

Deputy Director of the Central Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office Nong Rong, Executive Deputy Director of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office Xu Qifang, and Director of the Liaison Office Zhou Ji also attended, mourning together for those who unfortunately lost their lives in the Hong Fuk Court fire in Tai Po.
The ceremony started at 8 a.m., with the police honor guard entering to conduct a flag-raising ceremony, followed by lowering the flag to half-mast, and a 3-minute silence observed by all. In addition, many citizens dressed in plain-colored clothing spontaneously gathered outside government headquarters to witness the ceremony and observe the silence together. The ceremony lasted about 5 minutes.
