Hong Kong SAR Government's Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs, Alice Mak, stated on the 28th that the government will provide 200,000 HKD (about 106,000 MYR) condolence money to the families of each victim of the Tai Po Hong Fuk Court fire.
According to a report by China News Service, Mak introduced that as of 5 p.m. on the 28th, the "Tai Po Hong Fuk Court Relief Fund" launched by the government has received 500 million HKD in donations from all sectors, together with the government's input of 300 million HKD, with the total amount reaching 800 million HKD (about 425 million MYR).
In the afternoon of the same day, Alice Mak, together with Secretary for Labour and Welfare Chris Sun, and Secretary for Education Christine Choi, met the media after visiting residents affected by the fire. Mak stated that on the 27th, the government had already distributed 10,000 HKD cash emergency relief per affected household; next week, 50,000 HKD living allowance will be provided to each household, which will be distributed after registration through the "one household, one social worker" mechanism.
Chris Sun said that the Social Welfare Department has already registered "one household, one social worker" for 930 affected families, which accounts for about half of the affected households in total. "One household, one social worker" refers to providing different support needs for each affected family through a dedicated, matched social worker offering professional service and assistance.
