KUCHING,28 Mei: China Railway Engineering Corporation (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (CRECM), the local arm of a global infrastructure giant, has signed a key agreement with Imasa Dinasti Sdn Bhd to spearhead the implementation of the ambitious Kenyalang Smart City (KSC) project.

The agreement, witnessed by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Prof Dr. Sim Kui Hian at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly complex, formalises a strategic partnership between the two firms.

It marks a major step forward in Sarawak’s ambition to become a regional model for sustainable, smart urban development.

“We welcome today’s union with CRECM who are world leaders in their field. With the support of CRECM, Imasa Dinasti is uniquely placed to realise new standards in urban living with KSC and in supporting the government’s plans to deliver economic prosperity, social inclusivity and sustainable environment to Sarawak,” said Imasa Dinasti chairman Teo Ah Khing.

CRECM is the Malaysian subsidiary of China Railway Group Limited (CREC), a Fortune Global 500 company with over 120 years of experience in infrastructure development.
The company is known for constructing the majority of China’s railway systems and is actively involved in major Malaysian infrastructure projects, including the Batang Lupar Bridge and Kuching ART.

Imasa Dinasti, a member of the TAK Group of Companies, led by Sarawak-born architect Teo, is renowned for iconic developments such as Dubai’s Meydan City and Malaysia’s Putrajaya.

The company will lead KSC’s master planning and development.

Kenyalang Smart City, spanning 543 acres, is envisioned as Sarawak’s first fully integrated AI-powered urban ecosystem.

It will feature AI-driven infrastructure, green energy solutions, public spaces, and an innovation hub in line with Sarawak’s PCDS 2030 roadmap.

The project will also host Fudan University’s Southeast Asia campus, including a modern teaching hospital and a research centre in collaboration with Sarawak Biodiversity Centre.

“CRECM is excited to participate in the development of KSC alongside Imasa Dinasti. We believe this project can inspire sustainable urbanisation across the region,” said CRECM Managing Director, Chen Gang.
