SHEDA Excellence Awards Open for Competition in Five Categories with a Focus on Green Design

(Kuching, 28th) The Sarawak Housing and Real Estate Developers' Association (SHEDA) 2025 Excellence Awards are now open for competition in five main categories, in line with the Sarawak government's agenda to prioritize green design and strategies.
The chairman of the SHEDA 2025 Excellence Awards Organizing Committee, Datuk Ir. Sr Alex Ting Kuang Kuo, stated that the five categories include: detached residential, strata development projects, affordable housing development, commercial projects, and master planning.

“SHEDA members and non-members are encouraged to submit entries to acknowledge outstanding achievements in the real estate industry.
“This competition provides participants with a unique development platform to showcase their expertise in construction technology, creative architecture, and design, while also enhancing marketing and management capabilities in real estate services.
“This prestigious award aims to encourage developers to continue providing the highest quality products to the people of Sarawak,” he stated at the launch ceremony yesterday for the SHEDA 2025 Excellence Awards.
Datuk Ir. Sr Alex Ting Kuang Kuo pointed out that the awards will be judged by an independent professional panel, including the following institutions:
Association of Consulting Engineers Malaysia (ACEM) Sarawak Branch
Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM) Sarawak Branch
Institute of Landscape Architects Malaysia Sarawak Branch
Malaysian Institute of Planners (MIP) Sarawak and Sabah Branches
Malaysian Institute of Architects (PAMSC) Sarawak Branch
Royal Institution of Surveyors Malaysia (RISM) Sarawak Branch
International Real Estate Federation (FIABCI) Malaysian Chapter
GreenRE Sdn Bhd
He stated that the winners will be honored at the SHEDA Excellence Awards Annual Dinner on November 1st at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching.

Meanwhile, Datuk Ir. Sr Alex Ting Kuang Kuo announced that during the award launch ceremony, the SHEDA Academy also released a new manual aimed at providing practical guidance to developers on the Strata Management Ordinance 2019 (SMO 2019) and Strata Management (Management & Maintenance) Rules 2022 (SMMR 2022).
He said this initiative reflects the association's commitment to advancing the industry through professional training and sharing Sarawak-based research knowledge.
“This manual is designed to assist developers in addressing the needs and challenges of strata management, ensuring compliance and practicing best management approaches, thereby contributing to high-quality development and a quality living environment throughout Sarawak.”
