(Miri, 21st) - Miri Police District Chief Assistant Commissioner Alexson Naga Chabu pointed out that many traffic accidents are caused by human errors, and therefore, he hopes everyone stays vigilant and adheres to traffic regulations. If everyone contributes, we can ensure a safe and smooth Eid celebration.

He stated in an interview with reporters after the 2025 Miri Province Eid Road Safety event held at the Miri Jet Road Layang Layang gas station this morning. As Eid 2025 approaches, the police will launch special operations on road safety and crime prevention to reduce traffic accidents and prevent residential theft, ensuring the public can return home peacefully for the celebrations.

He mentioned that this operation will last from March 29 to April 6, deploying 200 police officers to focus on traffic safety and residential area security management.

In terms of road safety, the police will intensify patrols and law enforcement, focusing on five main roads in Miri, including Miri-Bintulu Road, Bakam Road, Permyjaya bypass Road, Kuala Baram area roads, and Miri Pujut Road.

"These routes are accident-prone, so the police will enforce strict measures to ensure smooth traffic and reduce driving violations."
Miri Police District Chief Assistant Commissioner Alexson Naga Chabu points out steps to strengthen road and residential safety, ensuring peace during Eid celebrations.

He emphasized that during the operation, the police will take enforcement actions against drivers who violate traffic rules, including speeding, dangerous driving, running red lights, and other violations.

In addition, he reminded drivers to avoid fatigue driving, suggesting long-distance travelers arrange co-drivers for rotation to minimize accidents. He also urged the public to avoid drunk driving, speeding, and using phones while driving to ensure their own and others' safety.

"Apart from road safety, the police are also concerned about the safety of vacant residences during the festive period. Since many families go on holiday or return home during Eid, vacant residences are easy targets for thieves."

Alexson Naga stated that to reduce residential burglary cases, the police will strengthen patrols in residential areas and advise the public to ensure doors and windows are locked before leaving, to prevent giving criminals opportunities.

Additionally, residents are encouraged to inform neighbors to help monitor safety or report to the police their absence dates, so patrols and security management in related areas can be reinforced.

The police call on the public to cooperate in jointly maintaining community safety, ensuring a peaceful Eid celebration without opportunities for crimes.
