(Miri, 21st) The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (Maritime Malaysia) acted quickly after receiving a distress signal from a sailing vessel owned by two American citizens that had experienced engine trouble in the waters of Miri, late yesterday evening.
According to Miri Maritime Zone Director, Maritime Captain Mohd Khairol Anuar bin Saad, a patrol boat was immediately dispatched to the location of the incident upon receiving information regarding the incident.
“As a result of the operation to locate the victim, our patrol boat managed to find the sailing vessel registered as FRENCH KISS with two American citizens in a safe condition without any injuries,” he said.
The vessel was then escorted to Marina Bay Jetty, Miri for further action.
In the meantime, Maritime Malaysia advises the public to always carry a Personal Locator Beacon (PLB) and wear a life jacket when engaging in activities at sea to avoid any unwanted incidents.
