(Kuching, 18th) The Sarawak People’s Awakening Party (Parti Sedar Rakyat, Sedar) has officially changed its name to the People’s Vision Party (Parti Wawasan Rakyat, Wawasan), and has received approval from the Registrar of Societies.
The chairman of the People’s Vision Party, Affendi Jeman, stated in a press release that the party received the official notification from the Registrar of Societies on Monday (17th), with the notification dated August 11, approving the party’s name change application.
He said that this approval marks an important milestone in the party’s development journey, and also ushers in a new chapter for the organization—allowing the party to move forward with a clearer identity, renewed spirit, and a firmer vision to represent the people’s aspirations.
“The party extends its highest gratitude and appreciation to the Registrar of Societies for their careful consideration, adherence to due procedures, and for granting the approval. We respect the role of the Registrar as a regulatory institution, which ensures the governance, order, and legal framework of our country’s political organizations are maintained.”
He said, the name change is not just a change in designation, but the People’s Vision Party represents foresight, maturity, and the courage to look forward to the future of the nation and its people.
“Politics should not only focus on elections and power struggles, but must be built upon vision, policies, unity, stability, and the welfare of the people.”
He added that the party hopes to establish a more constructive political culture, making politics a platform for uniting people, providing solutions, and placing people’s interests above those of groups or individuals.
Meanwhile, he emphasized that the new brand image will not erase the history and experience of the People’s Awakening Party, but will instead become the foundation for the People’s Vision Party’s future development.
He said, “Our current primary task is to strengthen the party’s organizational structure, expand the grassroots network, improve our policy framework, and put forward a comprehensive ‘People’s Vision Political and Development Blueprint’ that truly responds to the people’s wishes and needs.”
