(Miri, 18th) Police carried out a five-hour traffic enforcement operation in Miri's Tunku Road Garden, targeting road bullies and various traffic violations. During the operation, officers checked only 38 motorcycles but issued 71 traffic summonses.
This operation was conducted by the Miri District Police Headquarters Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Unit on Sunday (16th) from 5pm to 10pm, covering the residential area of Taman Tunku, Jalan Taman Tunku, and Jalan Taman Jelita.
Miri District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Fahan, pointed out that this operation is one of the ongoing enforcement efforts by the police, aiming to prevent illegal and dangerous motorcycle activities in order to protect the safety of road users and maintain public order.
During the operation, police checked 52 individuals, including 45 males and 7 females, as well as 38 motorcycles.
The offenses discovered included riding motorcycles without a driver's license, unauthorized modifications to vehicle structures, modified exhaust pipes causing excessive noise, missing side mirrors, motorcycles without registration numbers, and the use of non-standard or so-called 'fancy' license plates.
Mohamad Fahan emphasized that police will not compromise with individuals involved in road bullying or traffic violations, warning that such behaviors may endanger the safety of riders and other road users.
He urged motorcycle riders to abide by traffic regulations and ensure that their motorcycles conform to the specifications approved by the authorities.
The police chief also called upon the public that if they notice any suspected illegal street racing or dangerous motorcycle activities, they can provide information to the Miri District Police Headquarters or the nearest police station.
