(Kuching, 18th) – An 18-year-old local youth was involved in a traffic accident yesterday afternoon on Jalan Canna, Kuching. The motorcycle he was riding collided with a Perodua Bezza car, lost control, and fell, after which he was dragged by a passing truck and died at the scene due to severe injuries.
Kuching District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Alexon stated that the accident occurred at around 12:25pm. At the time, the deceased was riding a Modenas Kriss motorcycle, coming from the direction of the Jalan Stutong Baru traffic lights, when he lost control.
He said the motorcycle subsequently collided with the Perodua Bezza car. After the rider fell to the ground, he was dragged by a truck traveling straight in the right lane.
"The accident caused the 18-year-old local man to sustain serious injuries and he was pronounced dead at the scene," he said in a press statement today.
Alexon added that both drivers of the Perodua Bezza and the truck were uninjured.
He said police are investigating under Section 41(1) of the 1987 Road Transport Act.
"Therefore, anyone with information related to this accident may contact Traffic Investigation Officer Inspector Muhammad Tamimi Majni at 017-204 6414 or 082-259900 to assist with investigations."
