Ten-Million Fund Towards a Thousand-Student Academy: Pei Min Charts a New Blueprint for Development

(Miri, 14th) Pei Min Middle School Board Chairman, Mr. Hii Wie Liong, stated that the school will use its 65th founding anniversary as a new starting point to continue advancing its educational development blueprint. This includes establishing a “Ten-Million Education Fund”, pursuing the goal of becoming a “Thousand-Student Academy”, and striving to become the “Pride of the Miri Community”, comprehensively enhancing the quality of education and social contributions.

He made this statement in his speech last night at the “Pei Min United in Heart: Inheritance & Innovation” 65th School Anniversary Celebration & Appreciation Banquet, held at the ballroom on the sixth floor of Pullman Hotel.

He said that Pei Min Middle School has weathered 65 years of ups and downs, growing from its challenging early days to today’s status as a key stronghold of Chinese education in Miri, thanks to the long-term support and dedication from successive boards, principals, staff, alumni, and all sectors of society.

“The previous generation plants the trees so the next may enjoy the shade. It is precisely because generations of Pei Min people have persevered that today’s solid foundation exists.” He paid high tribute to all the predecessors who dedicated themselves to the school.

He pointed out that the board will actively promote the “Ten-Million Education Fund”, pooling together the efforts of alumni, businesses, and the community to improve teaching facilities, advance digital education, reward teachers and students, and provide support for underprivileged students to ensure the school’s sustainable development.

At the same time, he noted that with the school’s academic and extracurricular achievements gaining recognition and increasing parental trust, Pei Min is moving towards its “Thousand-Student Academy” goal. However, it is even more important to simultaneously enhance education quality and cultivate students with international perspective and a sense of social responsibility.

He said that in the future the school will also strengthen cooperation with the community, businesses, and social organizations, allowing students to participate in community service and cultural activities, making Pei Min an important force for promoting positive energy in society.

“We hope that every Pei Min student upholds the spirit of ‘Once a Pei Min Student, a Pei Min Person for Life’, and wherever they are, they will give back to their alma mater and society.”

He emphasized that in the future the school will continue to uphold the original aspiration of “promoting education and nurturing talent”, with unity, inheritance, and innovation at its core, striving for greater heights.

Beyond the dignified ceremonies and award presentations, the Pei Min Middle School 65th Anniversary Appreciation Banquet also featured a heartwarming scene. Chairman Hii Wie Liong, during the dinner, specially thanked his wife by presenting her 99 roses on site to express his gratitude for her long-standing support for both his personal and school affairs, receiving a warm round of applause from all in attendance.
