(Sibu, 13th) In the early hours today (March 13), a double-storey house at Jalan Teku 15 caught fire, resulting in part of the house being destroyed.
The Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department stated that after receiving a distress call at 1:28 a.m., firefighters from Sungai Merah Fire Station were immediately dispatched to the scene.
A spokesperson from the fire department said: "When the firefighters arrived, they found a double-storey permanent structure house of about 20 by 40 feet emitting thick smoke."
"The fire is believed to have started from the ground floor kitchen, but it had already been extinguished before the firefighters arrived."
It is initially estimated that about 40% of the house was damaged in the fire.
All six occupants in the house escaped safely, and no one was injured in the incident.
