Vance Hints at Use of Nuclear Weapons Against Iran; White House Rushes to Clarify

The White House has refuted Vice President Vance's remarks that appeared to hint at the possible use of nuclear weapons against Iran.

On the 7th, the White House responded via its “Rapid Response” account on the social media platform X, saying that there was absolutely nothing in Vance’s statement suggesting such a thing.

According to media reports, Vance told reporters in Hungary that day: “We have some tools stored in our ‘toolbox’. Although so far we have not decided to use them, the President of the United States has the authority to decide whether to deploy these tools. If Iran does not change its course of action, the President will inevitably decide to use them.”

These remarks, along with threats against Iran posted by Trump on social media—“Tonight, all civilization will perish and never return”—sparked speculation that Vance was referring to the use of nuclear weapons.

With Trump setting a “final deadline” for Iran, the Democratic camp widely believes that “Vance is hinting that Trump may resort to using nuclear weapons.”

Not only have voices in the Democratic camp raised doubts, but some conservative commentators have also begun discussing the related possibility.
