US Media: Wells Fargo Banker Allowed to Return to US After Sino-US Officials' Negotiations

The Washington Post cited multiple informed sources on the 16th, saying that Wells Fargo banker Mao Chenyue had been prohibited from leaving China for several months. After negotiations between Chinese and US officials, she has now been allowed to return to the United States.

On the 17th, foreign media relayed this news from The Washington Post report.

Previously, on July 21, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said at a regular press conference that Mao Chenyue was involved in a criminal case being handled by the Chinese side, and was subjected to exit restrictions by law enforcement agencies according to law. Under Chinese law, while the case is under investigation, Mao Chenyue cannot temporarily leave the country and is obligated to cooperate with the investigation.

According to Mao Chenyue's LinkedIn profile, she has worked at Wells Fargo for over ten years.

Mao Chenyue is a US citizen born in Shanghai and is based in Atlanta. She has worked at Wells Fargo since 2012, currently overseeing the bank’s international factoring business, and provides cross-border working capital strategy consulting for multinational clients.
