Anwar: Malaysia's Public Sector System to Become a Model for Developing Countries

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar stated that Malaysia aims to make its public sector system a model among developing or Islamic countries.

He mentioned that during his official visit to Peru, President Boluarte expressed a desire to enhance cooperation with Malaysia's Anti-Corruption Commission, as she admired several bold actions taken by the commission.

"When I visited Egypt, President Sisi also expressed his appreciation for our public service system, hoping to enhance cooperation with our public sector system."

Anwar said that this is not his personal achievement but stems from previous generations, merely refined through the current administration to further elevate the spirit of the public service system.

He hopes that the people will also appreciate the commendable performance of public servants.

"I don't wish for the people to only focus on salary adjustments in the public sector without recognizing the sacrifices and contributions of public servants."

He remarked that Malaysia has made progress in economic development and transparency in governance, with significant contributions from public servants.

He continued, noting that many public servants were pleasantly surprised by the salary increases, but he believes this is a fairer salary system.

He pointed out that some companies have annual net profits reaching billions of ringgit, but employees have yet to enjoy the same salary benefits. This has led the government to implement a gradual salary policy starting this month to narrow the income gap.

"We started with (adjustments) for public servants, then moved to government-linked companies and government-linked investment institutions, and also requested companies with significant profits to consider this matter (salary adjustments)."
