(Miri, 2nd) Miri Deputy Police Chief Superintendent NUR ASHYIKIN BINTI ABDULLAH led the Miri Police Comprehensive Crime Prevention Operation recently.
The operation began on December 31, 2024, at 10 PM, involving a total of 89 police officers, including senior and junior officers from various stations and units in Miri.
The purpose of this comprehensive operation is to focus on crime prevention in populated areas during the 2025 New Year period, including entertainment venues around Miri and vehicle inspections.
During the operation, the police inspected several entertainment venues and monitored public gathering places such as commercial centers. Areas around the city of Miri, including the city center, Permyjaya, Lutong, and Senadin, were inspected, involving 296 people and 253 vehicles.
The Miri Police Narcotics Unit also conducted operations to continue cracking down on drug trafficking and abuse activities.
Additionally, Miri traffic police set up roadblocks in both directions of Tudan Road, DATO SRI JOSEPH BALAN SELING Road, and the city center, issuing 96 traffic violation summonses, and impounding 15 illegal motorcycles.
Superintendent advised all parents to supervise their children to prevent them from engaging in any criminal misconduct, and not to participate in illegal racing activities (MEREMPIT). Every motorcyclist and vehicle driver must hold a valid driver's license and must purchase first-party or third-party insurance.
