(Kuching, 2nd) Schools in Sarawak are prepared to deal with potential floods during the Malaysian Certificate of Education (SPM) examinations from the 2nd to 6th of this month.

Oman Mahli, the Director of the Sarawak Education Department, stated that the National Examination Board has developed disaster response measures for affected schools.

“If any school is affected, we have alternative centers to relocate the candidates for the exams, ensuring that all candidates will be able to take the SPM examinations.”

Oman Mahli stated this in an interview with the media after inspecting the SPM examination situation at Dato Patinggi Haji Abdul Gapor National Secondary School.

According to him, schools in Sarawak are currently only at risk levels for floods.

“Most secondary schools in Sarawak are not severely affected by floods, although roads have been cut off due to heavy rain. So far, only six secondary schools statewide are at risk of flooding.”

It is reported that approximately 35,424 candidates have registered to take the SPM exams at 255 examination centers across Sarawak this year.
