(Kuching, 2nd) To welcome the arrival of the Chinese Lunar Year of the Snake, the Sarawak Tourism Board has launched limited edition red envelopes featuring the Borneo palm pit viper design, available for the public to collect.
It is reported that the Borneo palm pit viper is a species unique to Borneo, distributed in Sarawak's Mulu National Park and Mount Gading National Park.
Starting today, visitors can collect these exclusive red envelopes at the tourist information centers in Kuching, Miri, and Sibu, while stocks last.
This year marks the seventh year that the Sarawak Tourism Board has introduced traditional red envelopes to celebrate the Chinese Lunar New Year, aiming to celebrate Sarawak's vibrant culture and natural heritage.
Inspired by the Year of the Snake, this year's design incorporates elegant golden prints and the Borneo palm pit viper, symbolizing resilience, growth, and Sarawak's biodiversity.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Sarawak Tourism Board, Sharzya, stated that this initiative highlights the Sarawak Tourism Board's commitment to promoting greater appreciation of Sarawak's unique ecosystems through responsible tourism.
“This year's red envelopes highlight Sarawak's critical ecosystems and encourage awareness of conservation. Through meaningful initiatives like this, we aim to inspire residents and visitors to discover and protect Sarawak's natural heritage.”
Sharzya added that this event emphasizes Sarawak's position as a premier ecotourism destination.
“By combining cultural traditions with a commitment to environmental stewardship, the Sarawak Tourism Board strives to balance sustainable tourism growth with conservation.”
