After stepping down as the General Manager of Hong Kong's TVB, Hong Kong star Eric Tsang took a short break before rebooting his career and is now planning to produce a new Hong Kong-style suspense drama titled 'Hunting Lies.'
According to reports, this drama will be Eric Tsang’s “entrepreneurial debut,” produced in cooperation with mainland Chinese streaming platforms under his new company’s name. The show is expected to start filming in Hong Kong on June 23, with a total of 18 episodes.
As for the cast, the drama has invited mainland A-list actor Cheng Yi to play the male lead and will feature Hong Kong Film Awards Best Actor Tony Leung Ka-Fai. There are also rumors that Best Actress winner Anita Yuen may join the cast.
As the driving force behind the scenes, Eric Tsang has not only facilitated the project’s collaboration but will also personally participate in the acting. The production team is also impressive, including director Lok King-Chan, who previously worked on the movie 'Cold War.'
Reports indicate that Cheng Yi is actively preparing for this role—not only transitioning from period dramas to a modern-set series, but also undergoing martial arts training, studying psychology, and diligently practicing Cantonese in advance.
This drama also marks Cheng Yi’s fresh start after ending his eight-year collaboration with his former company Huanrui Century and venturing out on his own.
