Ye Xinyuan's father arrived alone at the Selangor Banting Hospital morgue around 9:10 am to claim his daughter's body. He left the morgue after less than 20 minutes, after giving instructions to the funeral director several times.

At around 9:35 am, Ye Xinyuan's body was placed in a vehicle and arranged to leave the morgue. During this period, the deceased's father was very silent and was in contact with others via his phone.

The deceased's father briefly responds to media inquiries from inside the car.

During a brief media interview, he expressed that he was still saddened by the passing of his eldest daughter among three siblings.

He mentioned that he could not recognize his daughter's appearance when claiming the body. "I couldn't see (her) appearance."

He stated that now that his daughter has passed away, the family cannot accept it but has no choice but to accept it. He also said that all arrangements for his daughter's funeral were entrusted to the funeral director.

The deceased was the eldest among three sisters. She went missing after leaving home on December 19 last year. The police launched a search operation at 2:15 am the next day after receiving a report; her boyfriend also reported her missing on December 22 when she disappeared in the afternoon.

Her body was found nine days later near the Sungai Changkang flood mitigation project, about 60 kilometers away. The corpse was decomposed at the time. Police subsequently sent the body for post-mortem and DNA testing at Banting, confirming her identity five days later.

The police reclassified the case from a missing person to a murder investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code and began detaining three suspects for investigation from Tuesday (December 31, 2024), including the deceased's boyfriend, aged 16, 20, and 51, for additional six days to assist in the investigation.
