Tutong Police Conduct Night Sweep on Illegal Activities – Joint Operation Arrests Five Suspects

(Bandar Seri Begawan, 3rd) The Royal Brunei Police Force Tutong District Police carried out a joint law enforcement operation at around 11 p.m., aiming to strengthen law enforcement efforts and crack down on illegal activities within Tutong District.

This operation was led by Acting Criminal Officer of Tutong District, Officer Hadri, and mobilized 23 police personnel from the district police. In addition, there were 22 members from other enforcement agencies, including the Royal Customs and Excise Department, the National Security Agency, and the Religious Enforcement Bureau.

During the operation, law enforcement officers conducted checks and surveillance at three main locations: Kampung Menengah, Jalan Bangar–Puni–Hujung Jalan (Bangar-Puni-End of Road section), and Kampung Belais. These locations were identified as hotspots for suspicious activities.

In total, five male suspects were arrested in this operation, four of whom are citizens and one is a permanent resident, involving two different types of offenses. Three were suspected of violating the Royal Customs and Excise Act, being found with 13 packs of illegal cigarettes of various brands; the other two were suspected of possessing and abusing tools and equipment related to drugs, in violation of Chapter 27 of the Misuse of Drugs Act and other offenses under the authority of the Narcotics Control Bureau (BKN).

All suspects, together with the confiscated contraband and evidence, have been handed over to the Royal Customs and Excise Department and the Narcotics Control Bureau for further investigation and processing.

The police force reiterated its commitment to ongoing joint enforcement actions, stating that these measures are part of an active effort to combat criminal behavior, aiming to ensure national security, public order, and the well-being of the people.
