(Washington, 28th) — On the 27th, CNN reported, citing a US official, that on the same day Eastern US time, the US military carried out a new airstrike in Iran, targeting a location that posed a threat to US forces and commercial shipping. The US military simultaneously intercepted several drones launched from Iran.

According to Iran’s Fars News Agency, at around 1:30 a.m. local time on the 28th, three explosions were heard east of Bandar Abbas, a city in southern Iran. At the same time, Bandar Abbas' air defense system was activated and fired for several minutes.

Late at night on the 25th local time, three explosions were also heard in Bandar Abbas. Subsequent statements from US Central Command and US media reports indicated that the US military conducted defensive airstrikes against two Iranian vessels attempting to lay mines in the Strait of Hormuz, as well as against an Iranian air defense missile launch site in Bandar Abbas. Iran accused the US side of violating a ceasefire agreement.

In addition, Iran’s Tasnim News Agency reported on the 28th, citing a military source, that a US oil tanker attempted to cross the Strait of Hormuz with its radar system turned off, but due to the swift and decisive action by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Navy, the tanker was fired upon, forced to stop, and turned back.
