(Miri, 25th) Miri District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Alexson Naga Chabu confirmed that the Miri District Anti-Narcotics Investigation Department (NCID) conducted a raid on February 23 around 4 PM along the Miri Bintulu road, arresting two local men and one foreign man suspected of being involved in drug trafficking activities.
During the search at the scene, police discovered and confiscated 24.66 grams of suspected methamphetamine, estimated to be worth RM 2715.
The case is being investigated under Sections 39A(1) and 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. According to legal provisions, if found guilty, the suspects could face 2 to 5 years of imprisonment and 3 to 9 strokes of the cane. Currently, all suspects have been brought to the Miri Court to apply for an extension of detention to assist in the investigation.
The police urge the public to immediately report to the nearest police station if they have any information related to drugs, so that the authorities can effectively combat drug-related crimes and maintain public safety.
