(Kuching, 25th) The Muslim community in Sarawak is urged to uphold religious principles, which are the main pillars of prosperity, to ensure the state's stability and harmony can be maintained.

Sarawak Prime Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari stated that these principles are consistent with the content of verses in the Quran, which emphasize five main principles in the life of a Muslim.

“This verse also calls upon us Muslims to adhere to the five principles in our lives, the first being to defend our religion as these are the pillars of human prosperity.”

A glimpse of Abang Johari's speech.

Abang Johari pointed this out last night while speaking at a state-level Muslim religious event in Samarahan Provincial City Centre.

He also advocated for Muslims to maintain their way of life, especially from social and equity perspectives, as this relates to the relationship between fellow human beings.

He said this principle is very important in the context of Sarawak as a multi-ethnic and multi-religious state.

Furthermore, Abang Johari also emphasized the importance of maintaining the wisdom given by God to face daily challenges.

He also mentioned that the Sarawak government is strengthening efforts to enhance Islamic education by allocating RM 95 million to establish an international Islamic school, aiming to cultivate a generation of Muslims with religious and academic knowledge.

The fourth principle relates to preserving lineage and family systems in Islam, while the fifth principle requires Muslims to defend their property and wealth, including protecting the environment.

In this regard, he emphasized the importance of achieving sustainable development through the use of renewable energy such as hydrogen, which is in line with Sarawak's efforts to reduce carbon emissions.
