Hong Kong diva Sammi Cheng returned to Malaysia for a concert after 10 years, even joking herself, 'It's really been so long,' and playfully exclaimed, 'That's crazy! How many 10 years can you have in life!' Before performing '唯独你是不可取替', a fan shouted, 'Where’s An Jai (Andy Hui)?' Sammi candidly responded, 'An Jai didn't come, he has something to do tonight, another show to perform!' She even sweetly cheered for her husband from afar with a smile, 'An Jai jiayou! I’m cheering over here too. Since he’s not free, I feel great—I get the whole stage to myself.'

Sammi’s two-night ‘You & Mi Sammi Cheng Kuala Lumpur Concert 2026’ opened on the night of the 17th at Unifi Arena. Returning to the Malaysian stage after 10 years, she brought a fully upgraded production, leading a team of more than 200 both onstage and backstage, including over 40 dancers, recreating the original four-sided stage from Hong Kong and Macau in Malaysia for a complete 360-degree immersive audio-visual experience. She admitted it was her first time facing such a huge crew and felt nervous: 'I've never had such a big team before—I'm honored but also a bit nervous. I hope tonight I can make everything perfect.'

For this concert, she brought the original Macau show to Malaysia, including new costumes and looks. The guest lineup featured the Chung sisters (Shuman and Shu Kei), MC Yan, Matt Force, 24Herbs, and KALAI Ka Lai, among others, bringing surprise after surprise. Talking about returning to Malaysia, she joked: 'Last time was 10 years ago already—crazy!' and humorously added, 'In another 10 years, I’ll be in my 60s, and some of you might be in your 80s! Don’t laugh so loud, reflect on your own ages.' Then, with confidence, she said, 'But I maintain myself pretty well!' drawing laughter from the whole audience.
Sammi Cheng descends from the sky in a black-gold ensemble, opening the show with a bang.
The concert kicked off with Sammi descending from above, dazzling in a black-gold outfit, sporting long blonde hair and a golden mask. She ignited the atmosphere immediately with performances of 'Pilgrimage' and 'Blazing Bright.' The whole show was full of sincerity, as she delivered over 30 songs in a single breath, including 'Breaking the Limits,' 'Heart Demon,' 'How To Shed Tears,' 'Love Is,' 'The Faithful Receive Love,' 'The Last Time,' a movie medley ('Love on the Line/Lasting Beauty/Glass Shoes/Come Back to Me/If You Have Troubles/The Song of Immortality'), as well as 'Dancing with Joy/Grand Finale,' 'We All Grew Up Like This,' and many more.
Wearing a brand new white battle outfit, Sammi joked that she looked like 'Snow White,' and confidently praised herself, 'I do think I look pretty.' (Right) Adhering to the local Malaysian performance guidelines, Sammi appeared in comparatively 'modest' outfits, but remained as stunning as ever.
Now 54 years old, Sammi is still 'super fit.' She also joked that, due to local performance regulations, her costumes were more 'modest' than usual: 'Tonight the clothes can't be too revealing—no low necklines or high hems, have to cover up.' Even the iconic red mini-skirt from the Macau show had extra underlayers, and the brand new performance dress was a long, close-fitting gown, leading fans to joke this was her 'most covered-up' concert yet. When fans kept complimenting how beautiful she looked, Sammi responded humorously, 'You don’t have to say these things so many times, but if you keep saying them, I’m still very happy.'
Sammi Cheng was touched by the enthusiasm of the audience, saying that after so long apart, Malaysian fans are as passionate as ever. 'Hot places really do create the best atmosphere.'
Wants to live in Malaysia for 2 or 3 months

Throughout the show, Sammi frequently interacted with the audience, joking that even with her in-ears on, she could still hear their screams: 'You can go even louder!' She continued her banter, 'Things like 'You're so pretty,' 'You sing so well'—these are facts, you don't have to say them that many times.' She had the whole crowd laughing.

Before performing '唯独你是不可取替', a fan shouted 'An Jai' (Andy Hui). She candidly replied, 'An Jai's not here, he has something to do in Hong Kong tonight, a show to perform. Aren’t you happy for him too? I’m very happy.' After saying this, Sammi gave a shout out for her husband: 'An Jai jiayou! I’m cheering over here too. Since he’s not free, I’m feeling great—I get the stage all to myself.'
Sammi Cheng was on fire all night, singing and dancing alongside over 40 dancers.
Near the end, Sammi confessed that she really liked Malaysia as a tropical country, 'I'm afraid of the cold, but not the heat. In fact, I want to come here and live for 2 or 3 months—just wear a tank top and jeans every day, don’t have to stress about what to wear, and I can visit the markets and eat street food. That would be so much fun.' She added with a smile, 'Tomorrow night I’m going to eat durian.' Then she turned to ask the audience for advice: 'Black Thorn? What else? Is it 24D or 24A?'

Before performing the final song 'We All Grew Up Like This', Sammi said with a laugh that she and her fans are all now at different stages in life, humorously commenting, 'Actually, we don’t have to do so many encores. Everyone needs to go home and take care of their kids, get some rest. We’re all at this age now, so no need to stay that late.' Her down-to-earth remarks had the whole audience laughing.

She also spoke sincerely, saying that even though she doesn't know every fan by name, it feels like 'old friends.' 'We’re old friends, not just friends.' She said this connection comes from many years of music and movie roles, accompanying each other as they grew. She encouraged everyone to keep chasing dreams at any age: 'Don’t think that at 40 or 50, you can’t have dreams. You can still dream at this age and should go do the things you want.' She added with a laugh, hoping that next time she comes, it won’t be another 10 years.

After Sammi exited the stage, the audience refused to leave, shouting 'Encore!' until she returned. She teased, 'Why are none of you going back to take care of your kids?' She then sang her first ever Mandarin song, 'Worth It,' adding the perfect finishing touch to her Kuala Lumpur show and making fans declare, 'It really was worth it!'
