Three-time TVB Best Actor Wayne Lai has been in the industry for 41 years. He frankly says that as an actor, the greatest achievement is being able to connect with the audience through works and dramas, building a bond akin to friendship. He is also delighted that some of his roles have been able to influence many people and bring positive energy.

Wayne Lai appeared at Aurora Place Bukit Jalil on Friday afternoon to interact closely with Malaysian fans. He shared that every visit to Malaysia makes him especially happy, and the enthusiasm of the local audience makes him feel right at home: “Every time I come here, it feels like meeting old friends I've known for a long time.” As a frequent visitor, he also praised local food and the environment, joking that there are always new surprises each time, and said every visit allows him to deepen his relationships with everyone, making them more and more like old friends.

Wayne Lai has played countless classic roles. When asked which of his favorite characters he would bring into real life, he laughed and said, “Actually, there are many characters I like, but bringing them into real life—better not! The characters I play are all quite tough lives.” He humorously added that whether it’s “Chai Kau carrying rice” or “Mud Buddha”, they all have hard lives, “In reality, being myself is the happiest.”

He also joked that although his on-screen roles often have a strong aura, in private he actually enjoys sharing and loves good food. “I prefer sharing with everyone, I really like that closeness. If you watch my videos, you’ll know I love trying different foods everywhere.” He candidly said that what the audience is familiar with are his dramatic roles, “The people on TV are all characters, and usually more dramatic, with a stronger presence,” but they are quite different from his real self.

Speaking about his recent activities, Wayne Lai revealed that he just finished filming the second season of TVB’s travel variety show See You, Jianghu with co-host Power Chan. He said the first season received good feedback, so the station immediately planned a second season: “This time, we visited many different places again, introducing history, beautiful scenery, and food.”

In addition, Hong Kong actress Toby Leung Jing Kei also made a surprise appearance. Wayne Lai said that although the two have known each other for many years, they have never worked together, and joked that maybe they could “lead a tour group” together in the future.
