Siasatan Jenayah Narkotik of the Miri Police Headquarters conducted a raid at an entertainment center in Miri yesterday, arresting 6 local men involved in drug trafficking.
The police carried out the raid from 12:20 AM to 1:05 AM on the 10th of this month, seizing 245.26 grams of ecstasy and ketamine, with a total drug value of 3,340 ringgit.
The men, aged between 26 and 46, were brought to court to apply for and were granted a 6-day remand period for investigation.
The police will investigate under Section 39b, Section 39A(2), and Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. Under Section 39b, if found guilty, they could face the death penalty, or life imprisonment and no less than 12 strokes of caning.
Miri police also urge the public to immediately report any information regarding drug activities to the nearest police station to jointly suppress and eradicate such activities.
