(Philippines, 3rd) The Mayon Volcano in central Philippines erupted on Saturday (2nd), and remains at Alert Level 3. Authorities have prohibited the public from entering within a six-kilometer radius of the volcano for safety reasons.
According to Reuters and the Manila Bulletin, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology stated that a mixture of hot lava, gas, and volcanic debris flowed down the southwest slope of the volcano, reaching as far as about four kilometers.

As Mayon Volcano's activity intensifies, the Philippine Red Cross has gone on high alert and is closely monitoring the volcano's activity.
The Red Cross also advised residents affected by volcanic ash to stay indoors as much as possible, wear masks, and properly cover food and water supplies to prevent contamination.
