(Miri, 18th) An aid team led by the PBB Terang Usan branch arrived at Long Layang on the 17th (Monday) of this month, delivering essential assistance to families affected by last week's longhouse fire.
This team represented Terang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau.

Each affected family received RM1,000 in emergency aid, provided by Sarawak Deputy Premier and Second Minister for Natural Resources and Urban Development Datuk Amar Awang Tengah, as an immediate measure to swiftly support the disaster victims and help them stabilize their lives after the fire destroyed 23 longhouse units.
Several agencies and non-governmental organizations collaborated to provide financial aid and daily necessities.
Although the aid has arrived, the atmosphere in the village remains heavy, with survivors recalling their harrowing experiences of barely escaping death.
This aid effort was jointly made possible by Awang Tengah, Dennis Ngau, the PBB Terang Usan branch, PPPERTU, WSL Xiang Xiang Co Ltd, and Pembinaan SSE Sdn Bhd.

The personnel present at the scene included: former city councilor Jarau Braim, PPPERTU chairman Anderson Kalang, PBB Youth Deputy Chief Naden (from Pembinaan SSE), Kampung Long Layang headman Pius Balan, members of the village security and development committee (JKKK), and the fire victims.
The fire on November 10th claimed the life of a 30-year-old man, left another 60-year-old man severely burned, destroyed the longhouse structure, and left many families homeless. The entire community is now grappling with trauma and loss.
