JOHOR BAHRU, Aug 7 (Bernama) -- Seven health facility development and improvement projects, with a total value of RM1.139 billion, are being implemented at Sultanah Aminah Hospital (HSA), here to further improve the quality of the hospital's services.
Economy Minister Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir said among the projects is upgrading of the main electricity supply and electrical and mechanical systems, worth RM159 million, with physical progress of 76.49 per cent.
He said the construction of the Day Care Centre (ACC) including multi-storey parking and the HSA Specialist Clinic Complex Phase 1 and Phase 2, with a total value of RM877.54 million, was also being implemented.
"The details (implementation period of all projects) vary and of course our challenge is to ensure that their implementation does not cause significant disruption to hospital services," he said at a press conference after inspecting the development projects at HSA in conjunction with a working visit to Johor, here today.
Akmal Nasrullah said the construction of the ACC including the multi-storey parking and the Specialist Clinic Complex would significantly increase the hospital's service capacity.
"The Letter of Acceptance for (the appointment of contractors) for the project (ACC, multi-storey car park and Specialist Clinic Complex) is targeted for February next year," he said.
He said three new operating rooms would also be built at the hospital, increasing the number of operating rooms to 15 from the existing 12.
Earlier, Akmal Nasrullah said his official working visit to Johor today was to assess the progress of major development projects and strengthen coordination between ministries and implementing agencies.
He said a total of 613 development programmes and projects worth RM56.12 billion had been and are being implemented in Johor since 2000 until this year, comprising 154 new projects and 459 extension projects.
"As of (the beginning of the year until) July 27, RM2.5 billion or 50.51 per cent of the RM4.95 billion allocation for this year has been spent," he said.
He said his ministry's priority was to ensure that all development projects and facilities could be completed smoothly for the benefit of the people.
