Bolin Chen, Chieh-kai Hsiu, and Kun-da All in Trouble; Netizens Mock 14-Year-Old Group Photo: High Crime Rate

The entertainment industry’s “draft dodging storm” continues to rage on, with Bolin Chen, Chieh-kai Hsiu, Kun-da and others accused of using fake medical records to avoid military service. The New Taipei District Prosecutor's Office has been summoning the involved individuals for explanations. As public opinion remains heated, netizens have dug up a 14-year-old group photo and noticed that the male celebrities in the picture have all recently “fallen from grace,” sparking a flurry of online discussion.

On Threads, a netizen posted an old Weibo photo of Bolin Chen on the 22nd, with the caption: “A photo from 14 years ago: Not sure if they'll use drugs, but I'm pretty sure I won't serve in the army.” In the photo, Bolin Chen, Chieh-kai Hsiu, Kun-da, Jaycee Chan, as well as Ivy Chen, and Szu-Ping Wang are all pictured together, smiling brightly and looking harmonious.

Unexpectedly, years later, the male stars in the photo have all found themselves entangled in scandals: Jaycee Chan was arrested by Beijing police in 2014 for “harboring drug users,” while now Bolin Chen, Kun-da, and Chieh-kai Hsiu have all suffered a blow to their reputation due to the “military draft dodging case.” After the post was made public, it attracted over 7,000 likes, and the comments section was full of mockery: “Four men can’t even come up with one discharge certificate,” “All the men in this photo are wiped out,” “The crime rate is ridiculously high,” “Time for a military dodging seminar.”

Some netizens also pointed out that, even back then, this photo was already a topic due to “messy dating rumors,” including rumors involving Ivy Chen and Kun-da, and Szu-Ping Wang and Chieh-kai Hsiu. According to 2011 coverage, the two kept their distance in the photo to avoid suspicion. Now that the photo has resurfaced, netizens are calling it the “destiny photo.”
