(Sibu, 21st) To welcome the upcoming Lunar New Year, Sinaran Pelangi School recently held a lion dance “cai qing” (greens plucking) event. The exciting lion dance performance added a rich festive atmosphere to the campus, as students, parents, and staff gathered together to share the joy of the New Year.

The event specially invited the Tong Lok Charity Foundation Lion Dance Troupe to perform. The exhilarating sound of drums and gongs reverberated through the campus, filling the whole school with energy and vitality. The lion dance team was led by Madam Zheng Shijuan, a local community and welfare officer as well as the supervisor of Sinaran Pelangi School, whose dual roles gave the event added significance.

To enhance the atmosphere, Sinaran Pelangi School board member Mr. Lin Gongyu also gave an impromptu drum performance, enthusiastically joining the show and earning rounds of applause from the crowd.

With the festive beat of drums, the auspicious lions leaped and danced throughout the campus, drawing everyone to stop and watch. Many parents and students raised their mobile phones and cameras to capture the wonderful moments. Lion dancers interacted warmly with the children and accepted lucky “angpows” (red packets), further livening up the festive mood.

Following traditional customs, at the close of the performance, the two auspicious lions presented the “cai qing” lettuce to Sinaran Pelangi School Board Chairperson Madam Lyu Shiyun, symbolizing good fortune and prosperity. Madam Lyu is also the secretary of Tong Lok Charity Foundation. This symbolic ceremony conveyed wishes for the school and everyone to prosper, enjoy good health, and have smooth success in the coming year.

The entire event was filled with a strong festive spirit, not only bringing community members closer together but also creating lasting memories for parents and children alike.
